• Mr. Bennet’s wife.  Obsessed with marrying off her 5 daughters to save them from destitution.  Can be annoying.

   • oldest Bennet daughter.  Beautiful.  Likes Mr. Bingly.  Conceals her emotions.  very close with her sister Elizabeth

      Annotations:

      • Wealthy.  Darcy’s best friend.  Bought Netherfield which is near the Bennets.  Falls in love with Jane but leaves her without warning

         Annotations:

         •   Mr. Bingley’s snobby sister.  Tries to attract Mr. Darcy. Writes to Jane when she leaves unexpectedly.  Unmarried.

   Annotations:

   • middle Bennet daughter.  Quiet.  likes books.
3. Lydia Bennet

   Annotations:

   • youngest Bennet daughter.  Immature and conceited. Likes the militia men and foolishly elopes with Mr. Wickham

   Annotations:

   • second youngest Bennet daughter.  Similar to Lydia.  They get along well but Kitty gets jealous of Lydia.

   • The Bennet daughters’ aunt/Mrs. Bennet’s sister.  Offers to take Jane back to the city with her.

   Annotations:

   • Mrs. Bennet’s brother, the Bennet daughters’ uncle; concerned about Elizabeth’s love life with Mr. Wickham (doesn’t approve because is not wealthy)

Annotations:

• The Bennet’s neighbor.  Elizabeth’s best friend. She gets engaged to Mr. Collins.  Conventional.  She sees her marriage as a business opportunity.  Different ideas than Lizzie on love and marriage.

   Annotations:

   • Mr. Bennet’s cousin who will inherit Longbourn. Plans to marry a Bennet but ends up marrying Charlotte after being denied by Elizabeth.  Snobby and a know-it-all.  Not desirable. Often brags about himself and his patroness, Lady Catherine de Bourgh.  Is a priest of the parish church.  

Annotations:

• Master of Pemberly, nephew of Lady Catherine.  Wealthy and Intelligent but proud and ill-natured. His pride gets in the way of things and causes Elizabeth’s prejudice against him.  Looks down on Elizabeth at first but then falls in love with her.  conflict with Mr. Wickham.  Broke up Bingley and Jane.  Wants Elizabeth to meet his sister, Georgiana.

      • A militia officer.  Handsome.  Conflict with Mr. Darcy whom he had known since infancy.  Lydia and Catherine and Elizabeth like him.
2. Lady Catherine de Bourgh

   Annotations:

   • rich noblewoman.  Snobby and bossy.  Mr. Darcy’s aunt.  Mr. Collin’s patroness.  Has a weak daughter.  Determined to be married to Darcy.  Determines that the Bennet girls are not respectable.

      • Lady de Bourge’s daughter.  Appears sickly and cross to Elizabeth. Quick to judge people.
3. Colonel Fitzwilliam

   Annotations:

   • Darcy’s cousin.  Often walks with Elizabeth.  Tells Elizabeth that Darcy broke up Jane and Bingley.
