Quadratics
Roots of the Equation
- the value (values) of x that makes the equation equal to zero.
Y-intercepts
- where the graph crosses the y-axis
Vertex
- the intersection of two sides of a plane figure.
Axis of symmetry
- a straight line for which every point on a given curve has corresponding to it another point such that the line connecting the two points is bisected by the given line.
End Behavior
- the behavior of the graph of f(x) as x approaches positive infinity or negative infinity.
Zeros of the function
- an input value that produces an output of zero (0).
Minimum
- the value of a function at a certain point in its domain, which is less than or equal to the values at all other points in the immediate vicinity of the point.
Parabola
- the set of points in a plane that are equidistant from a fixed line and a fixed point in the same plane or in a parallel plane.
Difference of Squares
- The formula for the difference of two squares can be used for factoring polynomials that contain the square of a first quantity minus the square of a second quantity.
Maximum
- the value of a function at a certain point in its domain, which is greater than or equal to the values at all other points in the immediate vicinity of the point.
Factors of a Quadratic
- finds the roots or x-intercepts of a quadratic equation.
X-intercepts
- where the graph crosses the x-axis
Discriminant
- a function of the coefficients of a polynomial equation whose value gives information about the roots of the polynomial.
Perfect Square Trinomial
- A perfect square binomial is a trinomial that when factored gives you the square of a binomial.
