TYPES OF EDUCATIONAL SOFTWARE

  1. Algorithmic type

    • The type where learning through transmission of knowledge predominates, from those who know, to those who want to learn it and where the designer is responsible for getting designed sequences of learning activities, which lead the subject from where he is, where he wants to go.
      • Tutorial system
        • It includes four phases that must be part of every teaching-learning process: The introductory phase, the initial orientation phase, the application phase and the feedback phase.
      • Exercise and Practice Systems
        • They reinforce the final two phases of the instruction process: application and feedback. It is based on the user's prior knowledge of the topic related to the final software.
  2. Heuristic type

    • The type where experimental and discovery learning predominates, where the designer creates environments rich in situations that the user must interact with, creating his own models of thought, his own interpretations of the world.
      • Educational Simulators and Games
        • Both possess the quality of supporting experimental learning, as a basis for achieving learning by discovery.
      • Micro Exploratory Worlds and Syntonic Language
        • A particular way to interact with micro worlds is by doing them with the help of a computer language, with its instructions and that can be used to interact with a micro world in which commands are applicable, examples: Chemistry, Mathematics, Computing, among others.
      • Expert Systems
        • Able to represent and reason about some knowledge-rich domain, to solve problems and give advice to those who are not experts in the field
