1. social engineering: this is gaining access by persauding people to hand over passwords or securiy relatied information unwittingly and then using that information to access the systrem.

2. direct attacks: this may involve exploiting a server vulnerability to gain access and/or attacking password hashes with dictionarty or brute force methods to reveal passwords whick give access to the sysyem

3. precautions to take: use strong long passwords which resist dictionary and brute force cracking
