Resource summary
Reflex Arc
Stimulus-eg hammer hits the knee
Stimulus energy is changed by receptors into electrical impulse
Impulse travels down sensory neurone directly to spinal cord (CNS)
Impulse is then sent along relay neurone which RELAYS it to the Motor Neurone.
The MOTOR neurone sends the impulse to the effector (muscle/gland).
Effector reacts to stimulus (in this case, knee jerks up).
