Glossary electrotherapy

Voltage: Electromotive force that produces the movement of electrons (volts).

Polarity: Opposing force, but equal.

Power: Energy in relation to time (milliwatts)

Frequency: Number of time a stimulus is repeated in unit of time.

Bioimpedance: resistence that opposes the passage of the current.

Intensity: number of electrons that pass through a point in a certain time.

Electricity: manifestation of the ehergy of electrons.

Electric resistance: Brake that puts the tissue to the movement of electrons (ohm).

Electromagnetism: Properties that present the elevtrical energy o generate a magnetic field around the conductor through which an electric current passes.

Cycle or period: Route carried out by the current accoring to the intensity of time.

Constant current: when the equipment rks in a way that constantly maintains the intensity parameters.

Constant voltage: force with which the current goes.

Polar currents: Are all the current that have single phase (monophasic).

Apolar currents: Are all alternating or biphasic currents whose phases are similar magnitude.

Electrochemical effects: modify the permeability of pure direct current (galvanic) cells.

Motors: excitation of motor neurons (reeducation, strengthening).

Sensitive or analgesic: Sensitive excitation, analgesia of medullary or chemical origin.

Bipolar currents: Asymetric, never its resultant is 0.

Electrotherapy Treats injuries a diseases through electricity.

Triangular: the rise and fall of intensity occurs progressively, so it also called variable slope impulses.
