Advantages of using glass instead of polymers:

- Glass is more rigid

- Glass is more scratch resistant

- Glass is usually more transparent than polymers

- Glass is not affected by heat like polymers are

- Glass can be used whenever and wherever heat resistance is needed

- Glass generally seems higher quality than polymers

Disadvantages of using glass instead of polymers:

- Glass is much heavier than polymers

- Glass has a high melting point which means that more energy will be needed to recycle glass unlike polymers which have a lower melting point

Advantages of using polymers instead of glass:

- Polymers are lightweight

- They have a low melting point which means that less energy is needed to recycle them

- They can be impervious to gases

- They can be squashed without breaking

- Screw tops can be used
