The Importance of being Earnest:

1. What type of essay is it?

- Persuasive, tries to convince us that Canadian literature should be funnier.

2. What is the author's tone and how does she show it?

- humorous and sarcastic because she wants writing to be more funny.

- she uses diction, colloquialism and punctuation. Ex: bull, stupid, whammo, quotation marks.

3. What is the simile she uses to show her opinion?

- " I often find myself feeling like the class clown in a serious boarding school".

-she tries to be funny but it is usually rejected.
