challenges to smart cities project

if use of IT-cant be done without clear understanding of local conditions, culture and realities

or there is no community wide change

not top down but bottom up approach (individual private firms and local leaders)

you have to be good business partner and navigator of public interest in order to make a city smart

focus more on basics-clean and reliable energy, safe and secure streets, transparency and citizen engagement

further devaluation of authorities to cities and local municipalities (70% of government decisions are made at the state level. State governments are at liberty to engage directly with other countries to attract foreign investment and are largely responsible for all infrastructure development)

need to have different approach for different cities -eco differences

not like nairobi and masdar city

ajmer -agriculture

vishakapatnam -largest eco then two mainly trade and trasnport

Allahabad-unregistered manufacturing by small scale enterprises

all three are part of india-us partnership

clear goals towards improving basic service improvement, job growth, productivity, eco inclusion and sustainability

dizzying pace- confused pace
