  1. 21 PEOPLE HAVE TO USE INFORMATION TO MAKE IT STICK

    • There are two ways to move things from working memory into long-term memory:
    • repeat it a lot
    • connect it to something they already know
  2. Repetition physically changes the brain

    • The brain has 10 billion neutrons that store information.
    • Neutrons fire every time we repeat the information. When 2 neutrons are activated, the connection between them are strengthened.
    • So, if we want to remember something, we need to repeat that so the neutrons of the brain can activate to make it stick.
  3. The power of a schema

    • Schema is a combination of other parts into one big part from one thing. Schema help to organize informations for the memory.
    • Example: A head is a schema because it include brain, eyes, nose, ears, etc.
  4. Experts store information as schemata

    • Schemata is the plural for schema.
