Spine joints important things to know
Cards in this deck (18)
- 1C1 is also known asAtlas
- 2C2 is also known asAxis
- 3What make up the atlanto-occipital joint and it's function?Occiput and C1
It allows flexion/extension of skull - 4What is the atlantoaxial joint and it's function?C1 and C2
It allows flexion, extension, lateral flexion, and rotation of the cervical spine. - 5Where is the anterior longitudinal ligament and it's purpose? It covers the anterior aspect of the vertebral disk from body to body.
It prevents excessive extension of the spine and protects disk from popping out anteriorly. - 6Where is the posterior longitudinal ligament and it's purpose? It covers the posterior aspect of the vertebral disk from body to body.
It prevents excessive flexion of the spine and protects disk from popping out posteriorly. - 7What are the osteokinematic motion of the cervical spine?Flexion
Extension
Lateral flexion
Rotation - 8What is the loose pack position of the cervical spine?Midway between flexion and extension.
- 9What is the close pack position of the cervical spine?extension
- 10What is the capsular pattern of the cervical spine?Lateral flexion
Rotation
Extension - 11What are the osteokinematic motion of the thoracolumbar spine?Flexion
Extension
Lateral flexion
Rotation - 12What is the loose pack position of the thoracolumbar spine?Midway between flexion and extension
- 13What is the close pack position of the thoracolumbar spine?Extension
- 14What is the capsular pattern of the thoracolumbar spine?Lateral flexion
Rotation
Extension - 15What nerve roots make up the lumbar plexus?T12, and L1-L4
- 16What are the two most important nerves to remember for the lumbar plexus?Obturator and femoral nerve
- 17What nerve roots make up the sacral plexus?S1-S3 and descending S4
