Flashcards
53. Unpredictability keeps people searching
Cards in this deck (3)
- 1What else stimulates the dopamine system?Unpredictability.
When we can't predict exactly when something will happen, it stimulates our dopamine system. That's why we like texts and social media news feeds. - 2What are 2 things that can be used to keep us motivated & engaged to complete a goal or task that ends with a reward?Sounds or cues.
When these are used to alert or reward us, it's even more satisfying and makes us want the reward even more. - 3What was Russian scientist Ivan Pavlov's experiment with dogs, pairing a stimulus (sound) with a reward (food) training the dogs to react to the stimuli and salivate without even having to see the reward called? The Pavlovian Reflex
