Charaterisitcs of a reflective teacher
- a) Reflective teachers don't take their practices for granted. They constantly ask “what” and “why” questions about their teaching actions, the motives behind them, and the consequences for students. This involves a deep and critical examination of their own beliefs, assumptions, and values.
- b) The goal of reflection is to improve teaching and student learning. It's not just about thinking, but about identifying strengths and limitations, and then actively pursuing ways to enhance their effectiveness.
- d) A key characteristic is the willingness to question current practices and, if necessary, change them. This often involves experimenting with new strategies and approaches based on their reflections.
- f) Teachers reflect on their actions to understand how they impact student learning and how they can create environments that best support students’ development of deep understanding.
- h) Teachers collaborate with colleagues, observe each other, and discuss their interpretations. This shared reflection can deepen insights and provide new perspectives.
