Some classes of problems do not map onto problem space concepts:

Insight problems as studied by Gestalts

Ill-defined problems: e.g. initial state is a blank piece of paper, goal is same piece of paper to have a drawing design of a toy aeroblane. What operators? Goal state is vague. It has been argued that cognitive processes underlying ill-defined problems differ from those involved in well-defined problems

Knowledge-rich problems: problems whose solution involve the use of large body of knowledge

Example of well-defined and knowledge rich: fixing computer problem

Lack of empirical support for the use of a problem space approach in knowledge-rich problems

Where problem space doesn't fit
