    • Rememer to answer them just like affirmative questions. There really is no difference for the person that answers. The difference is how the person that asks feels.

    • When you are suprised it is natural to ask a negative question.
    • A: I don't like ice cream.
    • B: You don't like ice cream? That's crazy!
    • Confirmation
    • When you are pretty sure but you want to confirm something.
    • A: Hi! I'm John, do you remember me?
    • B: Didn't you go to the same school as me?
    • Suggestion
    • When you make a suggestion and you want the person to say yes, you can use a negative question.
    • A: This is a nice restaurant.
    • B: Yes it is. Why don't we sit here?
    • A: What do you want for dinner.
    • B: Why don't we order pizza?
  2. Create a question for the situation

    • You hear your friend say that she doesn't eat meat, but you saw her eating bacon this morning.
    • You meet a person at a party. You are pretty sure you know them. You think they went to your school.
    • You really want to have McDonalds for dinner. Your mother asks you what you want to eat.
