The study of Meta ethics is the study of what ethical words i.e. ‘good’, ‘bad’,

‘right’ and ‘wrong’ MEAN, and the exploration of the question of if any SINGLE MEANING can be derived from them.

The focus is often on the problem that the difference between INTRINSIC good (something which is good in itself) and INSTRUMENTAL good (something which is good only as a means to an end), is never qualified in casual, conversational use of ethical language.

There are three main schools of thought in regards to meta ethics:

Ethical Naturalism

Ethical Non-Naturalism

Ethical Non-Cognitivism
