  1. Predicting Climate Change

    • Predicting Climate Change
    • The concentration of carbon dioxide currently stands at approximately 410ppm (parts per million).
    • It is said that if the atmosphere is heated to 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial temperatures, the effects of climate change will be disastrous.
    • This equates to a carbon dioxide concentration of 550ppm.
  2. Climate Change Predictions

    • If carbon dioxide concentration stays below 550ppm:
    • Temperature rises will stay below 2 degrees Celsius.
    • Sea level will rise by approximately 1m.
    • More storms and hurricanes.
    • Some species may become extinct, others would shift to new zones.
    • If carbon dioxide concentration goes above 550ppm:
    • Temperatures will rise by approximately 6 degrees Celsius.
    • Sea levels will rise dramatically.
    • Global weather patterns will change.
    •
    • Animal and plant species would not be able to adapt fast enough to the changes.
