    • The album stemmed from McCartney's idea of having a song involving an Edwardian era military band.
    • With this idea, Sgt. Pepper's band became an alter ego group that would give them the freedom to experiment musically.
    •
    • The group used this album to experiment with new technologies and playing methods that couldn't be used live.
  5. Background

    • The album was marked as one of the first multi-genre albums to be released. Its genres includes: Rock, Pop, Classical, Indian
    • classical, Vaudeville, Ragtime and Avante Garde.
    • The album was recorded using a 40 piece orchestra, as well as the band's usual instrumentation.
    • The record opens with 10 seconds of a pit orchestra tuning up, creating the illusion of a live performance. There is also cheering and seamless transitions between some of the songs.
