-during cooling/mixing a chemical reaction occurs-> causing thermosets to cure
(epoxy resins; polyimides) - 8thermosets cure (meaning)they set permanently, and cannot be moulded again

-especially strong
(ABS; polycarbonate) - 10elastomers-very elastic polymers
-can be streched by force to at least twice their original length+can then return to their original length when the force is removed
