About budgeting mind maps

Exploring budgeting mind maps

These maps let you follow connections between budgeting ideas. Budgeting sets out parts of a master budget, including operating, sales and production budgets. Cash Budgeting groups receipts and payments, while Variances looks at differences between actual and budget figures.

For a starting point, try Budgeting concepts or the map on the functions of budgeting. Then follow a topic that needs more attention. The map comparing top-down and bottom-up budgeting offers another way to look at budget planning, while Activity Based Budgeting starts with results and the activities behind them.

Moving between formats

As you read a map, trace the links between its branches and explain them in your own words. Compare the cash budgeting map with the map on reasons for variances to review different parts of the unit. When you want to check terms or practise questions, switch to the flashcards or quizzes on the Budgeting unit page.

Pick a map and follow a branch that interests you.
