Database design and entity-relationship modeling quizzes

These quizzes offer different ways to check your understanding. Chapter 5 Multiple Choice asks about the extended entity relationship model and entity types. Study Guide Chapter 5 & 6 includes questions about relationship notation and composite attributes.

Choosing a quiz

Start with the study guide if you want to practise reading relationship notation. For true-or-false questions on normalisation and normal forms, choose Chapter 6 (True/False). If you want to focus on data processes and flows, Chapter 7 asks about how these are shown in a business system.

Using quizzes to revise

Try answering without notes, then return to questions you found difficult. If you need a different way to review a topic, switch to notes or a mind map on the unit page before trying the quiz again. Teachers can also use the questions as a check on understanding. Choose a topic and give a quiz a go.

Frequently asked questions

Which quiz can I start with for relationship notation?

Try Study Guide Chapter 5 & 6. It asks about symbols on a relationship line and about composite attributes, so it offers a starting point for practising those details. You can then use Chapter 5 Multiple Choice to check your understanding of the extended entity relationship model.

Are these quizzes free to use?

What topics can teachers find in these quizzes?

Teachers can find questions on data models, ER diagrams, entity subtypes and normalisation. For example, Chapter 4 (True/False) includes questions about the ER model, while Chapter 6 (True/False) asks about normal forms. The page also includes multiple-choice questions and study guides.
