About Copyright

GoConqr Original

Start with the notes

Begin with The Copy Rights Act, a note organized around questions about the nature and purpose of copyright, the types of works in which it subsists, authorship and the rights it confers. Use those questions to guide your first reading and identify which areas you want to explore further.

Next, look at a Copyright mind map that sets out creators, types of works and uses such as copying and adaptation. Comparing the map with the questions in the note gives you two ways to organize the material.

Explore ownership and rights

For ownership, move on to Copyright - Ownership. This flashcard deck asks about authorship between employer and employee in the course of employment and includes a question about a case concerning ownership.

Then open Moral rights. This mind map distinguishes moral rights from economic rights and refers to infringement of moral rights in the UK. Another mind map on the page covers copyright registration requirements, fees and the registration process in Colombia. The resources offer different starting points, so check which one fits the area you are studying.

Use the quiz alongside a map

The page also includes a quiz. After working through a note or map, take it to see the questions it presents. You can then return to the resources and look again at the areas you want to study. Try writing a brief summary of a map before opening it again and comparing your summary with its content.

Place the topic in the unit

Copyright is a section of Intellectual Property: General Principles in Commercial and company law. The Intellectual Property flashcard deck also includes copyright, its requirements and ownership in an Australian context. Use it alongside the more focused resources to connect this section with the unit. Choose a map or deck and start exploring.
