CHARLES MURRAY New Right Sociologist "Traditional nuclear family is under threat" Welfare benefits are too high which creates a CULTURE OF DEPENDENCY PERVERSE INCENTIVE for having children

New Right (NR) Thinkers are particularly concerned about giving benefits to single parents/mothers.

They think it is a bad idea for children to be raised in houses where adults do not work.

CRITICAL OF LONE PARENTS - DYSFUNCTIONAL

NR Sociologists believe that the increase in lone parents, reconstituted families and easier access to divorce have led to a breakdown in traditional values which they say causes social problems for society.

Some politicians have made use of NR theory - had an influence on SOCIAL POLICY making it harder to claim benefits.

NR THEORY HS BEEN CRITICISED FOR 'BLAMING' THE VICTIMS' FOR THEIR PROBLEMS.
