- 1What is a computer system?A computer system is a collection of hardware and software that works together.
- 2What is the purpose of a CPU?A CPU processes data by executing instructions. it coordinates other parts of the computer system.
- 3explain the characteristics of the CPU and cache?the more cores you have the more instructions can be carried out simultaneously. the clock speed is the amount of processes per second. It is measured in Hz. Cache is a block of high speed memory found in the CPU. Stores frequently used instructions so the CPU can access them even quicker. It cannot store a lot.
- 4What is the purpose of RAM?RAM is storage used for the current period. data is lost when there is no power. used to store program instructions and data. RAM stands for random access memory.
- 5What is the purpose of ROM and what does it store?ROM stands for read only memory and it contains the bootstrap loader and the BIOS which contains the computer system that loads up the computer.
- 6Why are input and output devices needed and name a device which is both?We need input devices to enter data into the system. We need output devices to return the results of the processed data. A head set is an example of both it has mic and head phones.
- 7what is memory measured in?bytes : Kb, Mb, Gb, Tb
