Catherine The Great Her enlightened despotism manifested itself primarily in her commitment to the arts, sciences, and the modernization of Russian education.
Maria Theresa She improved the state's economy, introduced a national educational system, and contributed to major reforms in medicine. However, she found it difficult to fit into the intellectual sphere of the Enlightenment and didn't share the fascination with those ideals
Joseph II His commitment to modernizing reforms subsequently generated significant opposition. However, inspired a comprehensive reform of the legal system, ended censorship of the press and theater, and continued her mother's reforms in education and medicine.
