  1. 1RatioData can be arranged in order, differences can be found and are meaningful, and there is a natural zero starting point (where zero indicates that none of the quantity is present). Differences and ratios are both meaningful. (e.g. class times of 50 minutes and 100 minutes) (Quantitative)
  2. 2IntervalInvolves data that can be arranged in order, and the differences between data values can be found and are meaningful. However, there is no natural zero starting point at which none of the quantity is present. (e.g. Years 1000. 1776, and 1492) (Quantitative) *There is no true zero value
  3. 3OrdinalInvolves data that can be arranged in some order, but differences (obtained by subtraction) between data values either cannot be determined or are meaningless (e.g. Course grades) (Qualitative)
  4. 4NominalCharacterized by data that consists of names, labels, or categories only, and the data cannot be arranged in some order. (e.g. country of birth, ID numbers) (Qualitative)

  6. 6SampleSubset of the population; involves using part of the population
  7. 7ParameterA value, usually unknown and which has to be estimated, used to represent a fixed population characteristic
  8. 8StatisticSummary measurements from sample data
  9. 9NCount of population
  10. 10nCount of sample
  11. 11QuantitativeNumerical; Discrete (exact, whole numbers) and Continuous (decimals, measuring process)
  12. 12QualitativeDescriptive or categorical
  13. 13CensusThe collection of data from every member of a population
