-Management Information Systems - 2General-purpose SystemsPersonal computers such as laptops, tablets and also smart phones. They're designed to perform multiple tasks. A variety of applications can be loaded so that they can be used for various purposes.
- 3Dedicated SystemsThey're specially produced to perform a single function/set of functions.
- 4Control SystemsThey're computer systems which control machinery rather than producing outputs for humans to read/respond to. They're particularly important in manufacturing processes but are increasingly part of common domestic and personal gadgets.
- 5Embedded SystemsComputer systems that are a part of a larger system and are usually control systems. They include portable devices. They can be very simple or highly complex.
- 6Expert SystemsComputer systems that are designed to behave like a human expert.
They have three component parts:
-A knowledge base
-An inference engine
-An interface - 7Management Information SystemsThey bring together information from all parts of an organisation so that managers can make sensible decisions.
