Cape Town had no what? Had no economic significance.
Was was its position strategically valuable? Because a naval fleet positioned there could prevent enemy shipping from sailing between the Indian ocean and the Atlantic ocean.
Why was Cape Town important before the opening of the Suez Canal in 1969? Because, before the Suez Canal opened, shipping had to travel around Africa, so a port in Cape Town was useful to stop off at.
