- 8ConnotationThe implied or suggested meaning of a word. e.g. Connotation of mother is 'female ' 'caring' 'sensible' 'loving' etc.
- 9Simple sentanceOne clause, one completed verb. e.g. The sun shone all day
- 10OxymoronTwo words or phrases of opposite or contrasting meaning placed together for effect. e.g. deafening silence
- 11SibilanceThe repetition of the consonant 's' or 'z' to give a hissing sound.
- 12RhymeThe repetition of sounds at the end of lines.
- 13RepetitionRepeating the same word throughout a piece of writing. It emphasizes an idea and makes it more memorable.
