  1. 1Lady Macbeth (Act I, Scene 5) “Yet do I fear thy nature, It is too full o’ th’ milk of human kindness to catch the nearest way.”Lady Macbeth reads a letter from her husband informing her of the prophecy of the witches which say that Macbeth would be King. She is excited by the letter but fears that Macbeth is too good to nature, to take the shortest route to the crown which would be to eliminate the king and seize the throne.
  2. 2Lady Macbeth (Act I, Scene 5) “Look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under ‘t.”Said by Lady Macbeth during a speech in which she is convincing her husband to pretend to be like a perfect host when King Duncan visits them to hide their true purpose of murdering Duncan. Hence she tells Macbeth to look like an innocent flower but be like the serpent which hides underneath it.
  3. 3Lady Macbeth, Act 1 Scene 5 The raven himself is hoarse That croaks the fatal entrance of Duncan Under my battlements. Come, you spirits That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, And fill me from the crown to the toe topful, Of direst cruelty!Lady Macbeth, upon receiving word that King Duncan will be arriving that night, begins sharpening her talons. She isn't sure there's enough manhood to go around between herself and her husband, so she calls upon scheming spirits to "unsex me here." This is her vivid way of asking to be stripped of feminine weakness and invested with masculine resolve.
