1. The purpose of the CPU

   • The CPU is the main brain of the computer
   • Central Processing Unit

2. The functions of the CPU

   • Fetch
     • Fetching is getting the instructions
       • Stored in registers
   • Decode
     • Changing the instruction from words to binary so the CPU can understand
   • Execute
     • This is doing the instruction, sometimes more than one instruction is need to to complete an instruction

3. Cache memory

   • Cache memory is memory that is closer than the RAM and ROM
   • Volatile memory
     • You loose it when you turn the computer off
   • Very small amounts
