Law and Order
The SS had unlimited powers
The SS ran concentration camps were people could be sent without trial
The Gestapo had unlimited powers
The Gestapo encouraged people to report on any 'Anti-Nazi' activity
Judges were expected to support the ideas of the Nazi Party
Persecution of the Jews
1933: Jewish shops & businesses were boycotted
1934: Jews who were in jobs as civil servants, teachers or in other government roles were dismissed
Jews were banned from parks, public buildings & public transport
1935: Nuremberg Laws took away Jews' rights as German citizens
Many Jews began to leave Germany
1938: Jewish shops & synagogues destroyed in Kristallnacht
After 1939:Extermination of the Jews began
Education and Young People
Completely controlled education to indoctrinate children into Nazism
All teachers had to members of the Nazi Party, so all lessons had to reflect Nazi ideologies
Girls were taught how to be good wives & mothers
Every child was taught to be fit and ready to fight for Germany
Hitler Youth indoctrinated children with Nazi ideas
Persecution of Other Groups
Anyone not considered an 'Aryan' suffered under the Nazis
People not 'socially useful', i.e. tramps and mentally/ physically disabled people, were put into concentration camps
Churches had to accept Nazi rule, a Reich Church, dominated by Nazis, was also set up
Censorship & Propaganda
Newspapers, films, books, etc. were all controlled & censored
Radio broadcasts were controlled
Groups like the Jews were shown in a bad light
Mass rallies & propaganda events held
Hitler was portrayed as a great, almost God-like figure
Women
Encouraged to have children
Encouraged to give up their jobs & stay at home looking after their husbands and children
Advice given to women on what to wear and cook
Economic Policy
Public works programs like building Autobahns
1935: Rearmament begins
Rearmament created jobs in industries that supplied the armed forces
Aryan men replaced Jews and women who were forced out of work
