C3: PROPHETHOOD (RISALAH)

1. IMPORTNACE OF PROPHETS

   • Qur'an 2;136
     • Prophets relay the message of God
     • Muslims should live submission to Allah

2. ADAM

   • He is said to be the Father of the Human Race. He was formed from a handful of soil of many colours. (DIVERSITY) He is the first prophet.
   • He is God's 'khliafah' (his representative on Earth). He built the first Ka'ba in Makka.

3. IBRAHIM

   • He is regarded as a 'hanif' (he knew there was only one God)
   • Qur'an 3:67 - He chose to be a Muslim.
   • Two sons: (both prophets) Ishma'il (Prophet to the Arabs) and Ishaq (Prophet to the Jews)
     • Ishma'il is more important - his ancestor is Muhammad.
     • Ibrahim was tempted by God to sacrifice Ishma'il and Satan tried to tempt him to disobey God.

4. ISA (JESUS)

   • Qur'an 3:87 - He is a prophet and a successor to Musa. In the Injil (Gospel) he performs miracles. They reject christian ideas about the Trinity and say that God is one and not three.
   • Qur'an 2:87 - They are important and are given jobs. Truth-seekers.

5. MUHAMMED

   • Born in 570 CE The seal of the prophets. Role model - prayer and moral.
   • Show thanks through worship
   • Day of Judgement
