Primary Storage
- RAM and ROM are primary storage because they have direct contact with the CPU.
- Rom stands for Read-Only Memory because the computer only reads from this memory and doesn't write it.
- Ram stands for random access memory it is the place in a computer where all the programs and data are currently being stored.
- ROM is non-volatile where as RAM is volatile.
- A hard disk is a type of magnetic storage device inside a computer that is used to store data long term.
Magnetic Storage
- Large storage capacity.
- Fairly inexpensive to manufacture.
- Fast access to read and write data.
- Data can be lost or altered by magnetic field or mechanical problems
- Can suffer wear and tare due to moving parts.
