   • The CPU is the brain of the computer
   • It processes data and carries out instructions (executes them).
   • Processors have a clock speed measured in Hertz; 1GHz=1 billion Hertz

   • Passive attack
     • sits there and monitors the system and often scans the system for open ports and vunerabilities
   • DOS attack
     • A denial of service attack is an attack meant to shut down a machine or network , making it inaccessible to its intended users by flooding it with traffic.
   • Brute Force Attack
     • A program tries various combinations of usernames and passwords again and again until it gets in.
   • SQL injection
     • SQL injection is a code injection technique, used to attack data-driven applications, in which malicious SQL statements are inserted into an entry field for execution (e.g. to dump the database contents to the attacker).
   • active attack
     • An active attack is a network exploit in which a hacker attempts to make changes to data on the target or data
   • penetration testing
     • identifying a problem and testing it to the extreme
   • network forensics
     • identifying why the issue happened
   • network policies
     • ensuring the right people have access to the right files and nothing else
