Protocol Layers

1. Application Layer

   • It deals with the Apps on the device. It turns the information of a website or application into data.
   • It's hardware is located inside the device and it uses protocols of HTTP, FTP and SMTP

2. Order Of The Layers

   • Application Layer (1)
   • Transport Layer (2)
   • Network Layer (3)
   • Link Layer (4)

3. Transport Layer

   • It deals with data flow. It splits it into packets along with adding all the relevant information. (Header,Source address, Destination address, Check sum & the data being sent)
   • Its hardware consist of Proxy servers, Gateways and Firewalls. It uses the protocol TCP

4. Network Layer

   • It makes connections between networks and directs the data across the network (Packet Switching)
   • Its hardware are routers and switches. It uses the Protocol IP.

5. Link Layer

   • It deals with the Hardware of the network. it also manages the signals to and from the network connections.
   • Its hardware consists of cables, hubs and connectors. It uses the Protocol Ethernet and Wifi
