1. Abstraction

   • Abstraction is removing the unnecessary information and only leaving the information that's necessary

2. decomposition

   • breaking down problems into smaller more manageable chunks

3. binary search

   • used for items in an ordered list

4. linear search

   • used for items in an unordered

5. merge sort

   • splita the list apart then merges it back together

6. bubble sort

   • compares pairs of items

7. insertion sort

   • orders the items as it goes

8. pseudo code

   • shows an algorithms steps without worrying about the syntax of any particular programming language

9. algorithms

   • an algorithm is a sequence of steps which are carried out in order to solve a problem
