Act 3

1. Scene 1

   • Banquo thinks that Macbeth might have done something to get the crown.
     • "I fear / thou played'st most foully for't'"
   • Macbeth has another soliloquy and feels as though he needs to be more secure in his position.
     • "To be thus is nothing / But to be safely thus"
     • Macbeth thinks that Banquo is a threat to his crown
       • "There is none but he, / whose being do I fear"

2. Scene 2

   • Lady Macbeth is worried that Macbeth is having a lot of bad thoughts about killing king duncan and is possibly starting to regret it
     • "What's done, is done"
   • Macbeth feels as though that this is just the beginning of something much larger.
     • "We have scorch'd the snake, not killed it"

3. Macbeth reveals to lady Macbeth that he is having constant nightmares. He hints that something bad is about to happen but does not tell her his plan to kill banquo

   • "Be innocent of the knowledge, dearest chuck"

4. Scene 3

   • Two men hired by Macbeth are waiting for Banquo ready to kill him when he arrives.
     • Banquo and fleance show up and our attacked
       • Banquo is killed but Fleance manages to escape and runs away so he can get revenge later in life

5. Scene 4

   • Macbeth's feast has begun and he tells the lords to sit.
     • One of the murderers arrives and tell him that Banquo is dead but Fleance manage to escape
       • "I am cabin'd, cribb'd, confined, bound in / to saucy doubts and fears
     • Banquo's ghost appears and sits in Macbeth's seat.
       • The ghost points at Macbeth and Macbeth becomes very distressed.
         • "Never shake / Thy glory locks at me"
         • Lady Macbeth questions Macbeth's man hood
           • "Are you a man?"
   • Macbeth goes to visit the witches to know about his future.
     • Lady Macbeth is worried about Macbeth and tells him he needs more sleep

6. Scene 6

   • Lennox and another lord are both suspecting that Macbeths has had something to do with the two murders
     • He is trying to petitions for king Edward for help to gather another army
       • Macbeth hears this and starts to prepare for a war.

7. Scene 5

   • Witches meet with their Queen Hecate.
     • Hecate is angry that she had been left out of there meeting with Macbeth
       • She tells them to meet with her later.
         • They plan to trick Macbeth by showing him illusions
