ASSASSINATION OF FRANZ FERDINAND

1.F Ferdinand was heir to Austro-Hugarian Empire - he was unpopular as he wanted change
2.1914 Bosnia was controlled by Austria who had taken it by force in 1908 this was not popular with Bosnians
3. 28th June 1914 Ferdinand decided to visit Sarajeva capital of Bosnia to visit troops
4. Ferdinand was to be taken by car to city hall to have lunch and then visit troops
5.Serbian terrorists group called BLACK HAND - decided to assassinate Ferdinand
1. 7 young men trained in bomb throwing and markmanship and stationed along the route
6. 1st 2 terrorist unable to throw grenade due to car going too fast
7. 3rd terrorist threw grenade missed Ferdinand but hit car following behind
1. Ferdinand unhurt but some attendants hurt and went to hospital
8.Ferdinand had lunch then decided to go to hospital to visit injured
9. on way to hospital driver got lost and had to reverse
10.Terrorist GAVRILO PRINCIP saw Ferdinand and fired 2 shots
1. 1st shot killed his wife
2. 2nd shot hit Ferdinand in neck and he died later
