1. Understanding browser software, searches and interactive features

   • URL: Uniform resource locator (website address)
   • Website browser: used for accessing websites or information on a network
   • The Internet: a global network connecting millions of computers
   • Website: a collection of web pages
   • Web page: a single, usually hypertext document on the World Wide Web that can incorporate text, graphics and sounds.
   • Search Engine: a web site that collects and organizes content/information from all over the internet
   • Keyword searches: used if you do not know the URL address.
   • Interactive features of a website: online forums, questionaire, games, emails, quizzes etc

2. Tools and Techniques for creating websites

   • HTML: a language for describing web pages
   • Master page/templates: quick way to structure and create web pages
   • Homepage: the main page on a website
   • Site Navigation: enables users to access different web pages within the website
   • Hyperlinks: users click onto an image or piece of text and it jumps to a webpage or a new section on the website
   • Hotspots: an image or piece of text used as a hyperlink on a website
   • Bookmarks: keeps records of websites accessed so you can access them in the future
   • Web banner: a rectangle area on a website that displays advertisments
   • Web Icons: small images that when clicked perform an action
   • Web servers: computers that deliver web pages
   • RGB: represents the colours used on a computer display
