1. Set of instructions designed to perform a specific task.

2. Algorithms are used for calculation, data processing, and automated reasoning.

3. Examples

   • Lemonade: 1. cut the lemons in half 2.Put sugar in the water 3.extract the juice of the lemons 4.Add it to the water 5.Shake it
   • To do an exam: 1.Study 2.Read very careful the instructions 3.Answer it 4.Check it 5.Give it to the teacher

4. Every algorithm should have the following five characteristics: 1. Input 2. Output 3. Definiteness 4. Effectiveness 5. Termination
