1. Units Of Data

   • Name: Bit Size: Single binary digit Storage: 1 or 0
     • Name: Nibble Size: A sequence of four bits Storage: Whole number between 0 and 15
       • Name: Byte Size: A sequence of eight bits Storage: An individual keyboard character, such as ‘#’ or ‘k’
         • Name: Kilobyte Size: Approx 1000 bytes Storage: A paragraph of text, containing 200 words.
           • Name: Megabyte Size: Approx 1000 kilobytes/ One million bytes Storage: Around one minute of average quality MP3 music
             • Name: Gigabyte Size: Aprox 1000 megabytes/ One billion bytes Storage: Around 90 minutes of standard definition video
               • Name: Terabyte Size: Aprox 100 gigabytes/ One trillion bytes Storage: Depending on the quality several hundred hours of video

2. Binary Logic

   • Binary Gates
     • To use binary numbers, the main memory of a computer will contain literally billions of circuits that can each be either open or closed
     • This gate has two inputs and one output. The output will be a 1 only if both inputs are 1 (the first input AND the second input), otherwise the output will be a 0
