1. It took many years to for the British to win the Boer War
2. Women and children died in the war
3. 60,000 Boer's died
4. The use of concentration camps
  1. So, the British actually came up for the use of the camps
5. The public were appalled by the way the government handled the war
Tariff Reform
1. The government split in to 2
  1. Those who supported Chainberlain
  2. Those who prefer the traditional ideas of free trade
  3. But, many liked Chainberlain
2. Chainberlain resigned from the government and the conservtive party
  1. Under Arthur Balfour's adopted tariffs
3. Arthur Balfour
  1. He had many struggles with the tariff reforms
  2. He did nothing with the previous acts on the Education Law
  3. He didn't stand up to Joe Chainberlain
  4. The public were appalled by the living conditions
The Edcuation Act
1. Many parties gained support mainly the Liberals
2. The Conservatives became increasingly attractive in the 19th century
3. The act was supported by non-comformess Liberal party (so there was a campaign against it)
  1. This weakened the Conservatives image and they became more popular
