1. Fabrics made from NANOFIBRES

   • Often made from carbon or synthetic polymers
   • Very very thin & light
   • Very strong
   • Made into Non Woven sheets
   • Potential applications: Lightweight bullet proof vests

2. Fabrics made from regular fibres that have been modified using NANOTECHNOLOGY

   • Existing fibres & fabric can be modified to give new properties
   • Thin layers of nanoparticles can be attached to common fibres & fabrics.
     • Super thin & don't change the feel of the fabric
     • Nanoparticles can be used to coat fabrics that will then resist & break down dirt and stains
   • Currently used to create antibacterial fabrics using nanoparticles of silver
