Clock Speed
How
- The more clock speed it has the faster it can read and decode the data so then it will be executed in no time.
What
- Clock Speed is measured in hertz.
- One hertz is just one round of instructions while a GHz is one billion cycles of data
Performance
- The more clock speed a CPU has the faster the process of fetch-decode-execute is
Computer Performance
- Cores
- Performance
- With both cores working they can do (almost) twice as much cycles of fetch-decode-execute.
- How
- Two cores can do tasks at the same time which will increase the speed and efficiency of the computer's performance.
- What
- Two cores (or more) who can share their work and depend on eachother
- These are independent processors and not the CPU.
- Dual means two and quad means four independent processors
- Performance
- RAM
- How
- When a program is opened it sends information in the form of data to the RAM storage.
- What
- Stores instructions of currently opened programs or apps.
- This is volatile storage. (Data is lost when the power is turned off)
- Performance
- It collects data from currently opened programs or apps then sends it directly to the CPU for it to be decoded and executed by its cores.
- How
- Cache
- How
- It reads the instructions and copies commonly used type of data which it then waits for it to be requested.
- What
- Fast type of RAM that stores commonly used data by the CPU.
- This is more expensive than RAM or CPU due to how useful it is.
- It has a small amount of storage compared to the RAM.
- Performance
- The data which is stored inside the cache remains there until there is a request for it therefore making it faster as it is waiting for that particular instruction.
