1. (1) When children are young,

   • take them to shopping trips
     • to learn to spend money wisely
     • give allowance + put it in a jar
       • to see how savings grow

2. (2) When children go to middle school

   • Open a savings account
     • to earn some interest
     • help them plan monthly budget
       • monitor but not manage
         • to learn from their mistakes

3. (3) When children are old enough

   • have checking account
     • to understand the difference between short and long term goals
