1. No first or second person pronouns

I, me, my, our, we, us, you, your, yours, etc.

Exception: You can include 1st and 2nd person when you're taking a direct quote from the text

Example: Ellman says, "'Drink,' I said, presenting him the wine'" (64).

2. Obviously, no typos or careless spelling errors

3. No abbreviations

Adv for Advanced; n. for noun; etc.

4. No contractions

Can't won't, don't; as opposed to cannot, will not, do not.
