Value of Interpersonal Communication
KEY POINTS:
Patients want to be involved in their care.
They want accurate, honest, and complete information about their illness, treatment options, and prognosis.
Patients may be afraid to ask questions so as not to demonstrate ignorance by asking questions - communication channels have to be opened.
Always need to take the overall cultural conditions into consideration when communicating.
