Online Communication

• Definition of: online communications. There are numerous ways people communicate with each other over the Internet, including e-mail, instant messaging, feedback on blogs, contact forms on Web sites, industry forums, chat rooms and social networking sites.
• 

Network of Friends

• An online community of people with a common interest who use a website or other technologies to communicate with each other and share information, resources, etc.
• 

Virtual World

• A virtual world is a computer-based online community environment that is designed and shared by individuals so that they can interact in a custom-built, simulated world. Users interact with each other in this simulated world using text-based, two-dimensional or three-dimensional graphical models called avatars.
• 

Netiquette

• Netiquette, or net etiquette, refers to etiquette on the Internet. Good netiquette involves respecting others' privacy and not doing anything online that will annoy or frustrate other people. Three areas where good netiquette is highly stressed are e-mail, online chat, and newsgroups.

Chat

• Digital Technology. a real-time conversation, as between two or more people or between a representative of a business and a customer, over the Internet or other network.

Chatroom

• A branch of a computer network or a software application in which participants can engage in real-time discussions about a specific topic with one another.
• 

Blogs

• A website containing a writer's or group of writers' own experiences, observations, opinions, etc., and often having images and links to other websites.
• 

Microblogs

• Microblogging is a web service that allows the subscriber to broadcast short messages to other subscribers of the service. Microposts can be made public on a Web site and/or distributed to a private group of subscribers.

Wiki

• Wikipedia is a free, open content online encyclopedia created through the collaborative effort of a community of users known as Wikipedians . Anyone registered on the site can create an article for publication; registration is not required to edit articles.
