Fichas del conjunto (9)
- 1What is an atom?An atom is the smallest part of an element, that still holds the properties of an element.
e.g- Oxygen (O) - 2What is an element? An element is a substance made up of only one type of atom.
e.g- Iron Nails only made up of iron (Fe) atoms - 3What is a molecule?A molecule is when 2 or more atoms join together.
e.g- Water (H2O) - 4What is a compound?A compound is 2 or more substances chemically combined, it is not easy to separate by chemical mean.
e.g- Rust (FeO) - 5Name the parts of an atom. What is their mass? What is their charge? Where are they found?Proton.
1amu ~ +1 ~ in nucleus
Neutron.
1amu ~ 0 ~ in nucleus
Electron.
1/1840amu ~ -1 ~ orbiting nucleus - 6What does the atomic number tell us?The amount of protons in the atom.
- 7What is the atomic symbol? The atomic symbol shows us what atom it is.
- 8What is the atomic name? The atomic name tells us what the
atoms name is. - 9What is the atomic mass? The atomic mass tells us how many protons and neutrons are in the atom.
